John Daly, clearly the fan favorite in his return visit to the charity event, won six skins worth $130,000 Monday at The ACE Club in Lafayette Hill to take home the top prize in the Exelon Invitational hosted by Jim Furyk.

Sean O'Hair, an ACE Club member from nearby Boothwyn, birdied the final hole to win two skins and finish in second place, taking five total skins worth $87,500. Adam Scott actually won the most skins, seven, but earned the least amount of money, $82,500.

After the round had been completed, the tournament presented a $200,000 check to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia, a record amount for the main benefactor of the event.

Furyk, hosting the tournament for the eighth year, was forced to miss playing for the second time. In 2004, he could not participate after recovering from wrist surgery. Daly was also in the field that day, when Phil Mickelson won. On Monday, like he did two years ago, Furyk walked with the other three and mingled with the crowd, estimated at close to 10,000 people.

"It was a freak accident this morning," said the PGA Tour's second-leading money winner this year. "At my age, you can hurt something putting your socks on."

Furyk, the fifth-ranked player in the world and the winner at the Wachovia Championship last month, tried to swing a golf club Monday morning, but felt pain in his lower neck and upper back area.

He planned to head to New York Monday night in preparation for playing in the Barclays Classic starting Thursday. He will be evaluated this morning.

Daly, whose pace of play caused the first-tee starter to abbreviate his introduction of the two-time major championship winner because Daly was already swinging away, birdied six holes on the day. A stretch of three straight, on the 14th, 15th and 16th holes, made him all his money.

A birdie putt of about 25-feet on the 231-yard, par-3 14th earned a halve with Scott, who was in about three feet for his birdie. On the 15th, Daly hit his approach 12-feet left of the pin, his birdie there worth five skins and $105,000.

"It's a different type of round," said O'Hair, the 2005 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. "Look at John Daly. He was all over the place for a while there."

O'Hair made four birdies on the afternoon, the one at the par-4 fifth hole good for three skins. A 385-yard hole, O'Hair hit his tee shot on the green to eight feet, the two-putt good for the skins and $22,500. His six-foot birdie putt at the last hole won two more skins, these worth $65,000 more.

"This was such a great time for me," said the transplanted Texan. "I didn't play as well as I would have liked to, but it was nice to be in front of the home crowd."

Scott, the early leader, won his second hole at the par-4 10th, the birdie putt given to him and the five skins worth $67,500 to go with the $15,000 he won on the second green.

This is the eighth year of the Exelon Invitational, but the first at The ACE Club, which in December signed a four-year deal to host the tournament. Previously, it had been held at Wyncote Golf Club, Inniscrone Golf Club and Hartefeld National Golf Club.

With his wide appeal each time he shows up, it is a good bet Daly will play here once again sometime during the remaining three years at The ACE Club.

NOTES: ACE Club member Jeff Falcoff won an auction to be Daly's caddy for the round. The Lafayette Hill resident shared time on the bag with his son, Brett, a student at Penn Charter. ... Scott Cahoone nearly had himself $1 million Monday. The Bryn Mawr resident hit a 5-iron at the 193-yard, par-3 eighth that stopped about 18 inches right of the hole. Had it gone in, he would have been paid off in the event's Million Dollar Shootout. After none of the pros could get any closer, Adam Scott handed Cahoone his putter and the amateur sank the short birdie putt.
