"They've been blessed. They're juniors, and to make it to the final eight is great."She said the girls never thought about how far they could go. They stuck with the one-match-at-a-time theme."When you look too far ahead, that's when you lose focus," she said.The Bulldogs moved into the quarterfinals by edging East Noble's and 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 in the round of 16 Friday morning.The LaBonte-Starkey duo was the only pair that had to play twice on Friday. Coach Starkey said playing the extra match could be viewed as a positive or negative."In terms of endurance, maybe (it hurt)," she said. "But in terms of (being) adjusted and getting used to playing with the people here, they were at least able to get the jitters out."Clarksville junior eliminated Avon freshman 6-1, 6-2 in Friday's singles quarterfinals. Welcher went on to win the state title on Saturday. Riley finished with a 23-1 record."It (quarterfinal loss) doesn't take away from the season Christina had," Avon coach said.
