Paramedics headed to St. Edmund Catholic elementary-junior school, 11712 130 Ave., around 2:40 p.m. and found the Grade 9 girls coughing and complaining of a burning sensation in their eyes, said Supt. Danny Huckabee.

Edmonton Catholic Schools spokesman Lori Nagy said the girls were packing for a three-night trip to Jasper when the canister was accidentally triggered.
