And as a result of going 13-1 in the I-8, four Dwight players have been honored as part of the 2006 All-Conference squad. Dolan was also named the league's Coach of the Year.

Lisle finished second in the I-8 standings at 11-3. Coal City was third at 9-5, followed by Reed-Custer 8-5, Seneca and Wilmington (tied at 5-9), Plano 4-0 and Sandwich 0-14.

Honored as All-Conference players for Dwight were junior pitcher Kelli Humbert plus senior shortstop Erin Galloway, senior third baseman Stephanie Humbert and senior first baseman Sarah Gereaux.

Coalers honored included senior second baseman Morgan Henline, sophomore pitcher Carolyn Kratochvil and sophomore catcher Karla Shappel. Senior second baseman Jenny Coronelli and junior shortstop Jenny Clifford represent Reed-Custer while Seneca landed senior pitcher Vanessa Osborne and senior center fielder Malia Cole.

Dwight ended the year 33-5 with a loss to defending Class A state champion Beecher. The 33 wins is a school record for victories in a single season, bettering the 32-5 ledger established in 2001.

“I have been retired for two years after teaching math at Dwight for 18 or 19 years,” Dolan said, who added that placing four Trojans on the All-Conference squad was a great reward.

“We had a lot of big hits early in the year and that really helped us,” said Dolan. “In order to be good, you have to win close games. Another thing that helped us this year was we were blessed with another pitcher. We play a lot of conference games in a row, with back-to-back games. We did not have to throw Kelli (Humbert) in every game.

Lisle players selected All-Conference included senior pitcher Bridget Holtorf, junior third baseman Stephanie Sarb and sophomore shortstop Erin Drennan. Plano landed senior first baseman Christina Narciso, junior catcher Rachel Dohogne and junior Haley Secor.
