GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Brieanna Kennedy, a 16-year-old rising junior at Caravel Academy, missed a national high school javelin title by one inch Friday in the Nike Outdoor Nationals.

NEW CASTLE -- Erin Harvey has been named interim coach of the Wilmington College softball team, athletic director Frank Aiello announced Friday.

A graduate of Wilmington College, Harvey has spent five years as an assistant coach with the Wildcats. She also is the school's sports information director.

"My lifelong dream has been to become an NBA player and, after going through this process, I believe now is the time to take advantage of a great opportunity," Lowry said in a statement released by the school Friday.
