RICHMOND Steamy weather drew hundreds of people to downtown Richmond on Saturday looking to cool off with their favorite strawberry creation.
After having strawberries painted on their cheeks, the Otto sisters, Lauren, 9, Macey 6, Katelyn, 5, and Jordan, 7 months, of Richmond were off in search of more treats.
After spending three months planning this year's festival, Bryce Klontz, chairman of the Richmond events board, was looking forward to offering even more to festival-goers.
New to the event this year were the Milwaukee High Wheelers Bicycle Club; Art on Broadway, which featured 14 artisans selling their creations; and the Beer Banjo street party Saturday night, with a seven-piece Dixieland band playing on top of a fire truck.
The Roving Ragtime Band, including a washboard player, entertained the afternoon crowd as did the Four Strings Attached youth violin group, which played in the downtown gazebo.
Strawberries flew out of Cindy Walleck's stand at the festival, selling 110 pints of fresh berries to benefit the restoration of Richmond Memorial Hall.
