BENTONVILLE -- Two Springdale men charged in the Dec. 30 shooting death of a 17-year-old boy from... Mental Evaluation Ordered
BENTONVILLE -- Two Springdale men charged in the Dec. 30 shooting death of a 17-year-old boy from Centerton will undergo mental evaluations at Ozark Guidance.
Dimaz-Martinez is charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery in the death of Derrick Jefferson. He is represented by Public Defender Jay Saxton.
Magana is charged with accomplice to capital murder and accomplice to aggravated robbery. He is represented by court-appointed attorney Marianne Hudson.
Police said Jefferson was getting a ride home from the men after a party, but was ordered out the car and shot in the head so the two men could have the money in his pocket -- perhaps as little as $30.
Two girls who were acquainted with Magana, and who'd invited Jefferson to the party, watched and cried in the back seat, according to a police report. Police said the girls, who are younger than 18, later gave accounts of the crime that helped police identify the men.
