Initially, Elyria police believed there was a second girl involved in making the bomb threat, but she turned out not to be involved, said Elyria police Lt. Andy Eichenlaub. The 17-year-old girl from Elyria is being charged with delinquency by inducing panic and making false alarms, he said.

On Monday, Elyria police said they identified two 17- and one 16-year-old girls as culprits for bomb threats to the school last week. One of the girls is also being accused of making a bomb threat to Lorain Southview High School last week.

Elyria schools have not received any bomb threats this week, said spokeswoman Amy Kren. Students now realize that it is just a matter of time before they are caught, she said.

Christopher Griffith, 18, of Lorain, was arrested on Monday for a threat to Lorain Admiral King High School. Griffith was arraigned yesterday on felony inducing panic charges in Lorain Municipal Court. He appeared via video and Municipal Court Judge Thomas Elwell set bond at $50,000. Griffith did not speak during the arraignment and his attorney commented that the bond was excessive, but said it would be addressed at a pretrial on March 22.

Griffith was arrested at Lorain Admiral King High School Monday morning after he was overheard bragging about calling in a threat to the school, police have said.

The two of the three teenage girls who were also taken into custody Monday are connected to threats called into Elyria High School on March 7, according to Elyria police. The three acted together to make a call March 8, police said. One of the three girls also admitted to making a bomb threat to Southview High School on March 7.

Eleven of the 16 bomb threats made to Lorain County schools since mid-February have been connected back to 11 students including three siblings in Lorain, ages 11 to 14; two 16-year-olds from Lorain who are related; and a 14-year-old South Amherst Middle School student. All the students connected to the pranks are juveniles except for Griffith and will be processed through the juvenile court system on charges of delinquency by reason of inducing panic and making false alarms.

Police continue to investigate threats made to Southview High School on Feb. 23 and March 8, to Lorain Admiral King High School on Feb. 28 and March 7, and to Elyria High School on March 7.
