Two recent incidents involving children and a stranger have a small local community on edge and police warning schoolkids of the dangers three young girls have already faced.
Dorchester has had two incidents in the last seven days in which children were approached by an unknown man. The most recent happened Wednesday afternoon, OPP said.
The first incident, which wasn't reported to police until Wednesday night, was last Friday at about 8 p.m. A man asked two girls walking along Hamilton Road to approach his car, but the girls refused.
The suspect drives a dark, possibly purple, car, similar to a Dodge Stratus. He's described as a white man in his late 50s or early 60s with balding white hair and a white goatee.
"Education about safety is critically important," said Celia Handsaeme, whose school includes pupils from junior kindergarten to Grade 3. "When an incident like this happens in their own community, there's a need to highlight that information."
