More than 150 students packed one section of the gymnasium. They call themselves the Copas Crazies - after their own gym's name, Jerry Copas Gymnasium. Students wore their school colors -  blue and white - and cheered their hearts out, said sophomore Kyle Fox, 16.

"[The team] is hurt right now," Watson said immediately following the game. "A couple days from now they'll reflect on the season and realize how well they did."

The Tigers won the sectionals, regionals and defeated their archrival Hickory along the way. They finished the season, including playoffs, with 29 victories and four losses.

They played against an undefeated team Saturday. Wilson Beddingfield was 29-0 going into Saturday's game. It was Beddingfield's first trip to the state playoffs.
