The club's 17 Black and 16 Black squads both won their open divisions to earn berths to the Junior Olympic Championships, scheduled for June 28 to July 5 in Atlanta.
The 17 Black squad, which features Hillary Haen and Jackie Nissen of Prairie Ridge, Annie Thomas of Harvard and Marian Central's Kacie Wikierak, went 10-0 in the tournament, losing only one game. They defeated Club Z Orange, 2-1, in the finals. Fusion's 16 Black team, which includes Dundee-Crown's Amanda Lutzow and Ali Meyer of Crystal Lake South, went 9-1 in the tournament, losing four games. In the final, Club Fusion beat last year's 15-year-old national champs, St. Louis CYC, by a 25-18, 25-19 score.
Sky High earns national berth: The Crystal Lake-based Sky High club earned a national berth over the weekend when its 18 Black team placed second in the open division in Indianapolis.
