Melton said both plans would impact up to a half-acre of wetlands. The previous plan would have affected about half of the wetlands on the site.
The group put the site's environmental review process on hold last month when a contractor noted wetlands on the western and southeastern areas of the property. The group met with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers which agreed with the conclusions. The board is working on a permit application with the Corps.
Project manager Ron Price of Sacramento-based Harris & Associates said these types of plan changes are typical. He said groups change projects to adapt changing conditions, like the wetlands issue. He predicted there may be further changes as other issues are studied, including traffic, noise and lighting.
The Paradise Community Village is the new name for the Paradise Youth Sports and Family Center. The center is consortium of seven community groups including the town of Paradise, the Paradise Unified School District, Paradise Recreation and Park District and Youth for Change as well as the Boys and Girls Club, the middle school and soccer club.
