Kelly Oakes didn't spend a whole lot of time thinking about the Blue-Gold Girls High School All-Star Game, because she never expected to be a participant.

"I didn't even think I was nominated, to tell you the truth," said Oakes, a senior at Delcastle who will be playing for the Blue team in Saturday's 5 p.m. game at the Bob Carpenter Center. "I thought I wasn't going to be there. I was thrilled to find out I would be playing."

"I think she is what the Blue-Game is all about," Quann said. "She cares dearly for her friends as well as other people. Once you befriend her, you have a friend for life. What the game represents beyond basketball is something she relates to.
